And Here's the Matching Bag . . .

I made a bag to match the quilt. I strip pieced the front flap and back pocket & used "Jodi" on the sides, Dolin in the front and fussy cut Madeline for the top of the strap and used Maeve for the underside from Queen Street. Pockets are Kat Stripe & Casey Scroll & Sally used in the flap from previous Jennifer Paganelli lines. Back and inside pics on my flickr page & will be in my shop tonight! :)

Orange and Fuschia Queen St Quilt

Just finished this beautiful color combination quilt inspired by Jennifer Paganelli's new Queen Street line. The large floral on the ends in the top photo is called Madeline and it inspired the color palette. Tangerine, Fuschia and red is an electric combination. I thought a couple shots of yellow would break up the combo a bit. Since the Madeline print is essentially a stripe, I used 12" strips of coordinates for the back. I outline quilted the blocks and freemotion quilted the Madeline section of the quilt in fuschia thread. The binding is Siobhan in fuschia. Will be available in my shop soon~ a baby or lap size 34x61. I'm working on a diaper bag to match . . .

Ahhh Parisville!

This new line by Tula Pink has been highly anticipated in the blog world! We all got to drool over her amazing booth at Quilt Market. Some of those pictures are favorited on my flickr page. Her blog, http://tulapink.com/ shows how she drew the amazing Cameo print with the lady with a rat (or mouse??) on her head. Kinda funny! Print #4 above has small mice in the print as well. The Eyedropper print #3 has so many possibilities. I have it in 2 colorways, but will order the third the next time I buy fabric. I love the details she puts into every print. She is a true artist!!

Twin Quilt Finished!

I always feel so good after finishing a quilt! Erica asked me to make a twin size quilt for her daughter using the colors in this quilt http://www.flickr.com/photos/sewfunbymonique/4458714106/in/set-72157623112818493/

but adding orange. I used Jenean Morrison's Mingle in beetroot (center square) to bridge the colors. I grabbed some of my Joel Dewberry's Woodgrain in orange, Valori Wells butterflies in orange (for the binding, too), Tanya Whelan's Marilyn from Dolce, Amy Butler's Floating Buds & Robert Kaufman's Crazy for Dots which also has all the colors including the burgundy. The rest is mostly Flora and Fauna and Mezzanine from Patty Young, but I also included Jennifer Paganelli (of course!) Matt's Tux, Pop Garden from Heather Bailey & Anna Maria's Filigree in green. Patchwork Bag

I am just in love with this color combination! Liz originally wanted a minky blanket with these fabrics, which I previously finished: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sewfunbymonique/5132977045/ but then decided to add a patchwork bag and here it is! Normally I just use interfacing on all the pieces, but this time I added batting and quilted the pieces. It was definately thicker and more difficult to go through the layers when putting it all together. I used my walking foot and pressed on! More pics on my flickr page. Baby Quilt

I never tire of making quilts, and baby quilts are so sweet to make. This is part of a set I have been working on for Megan. I ventured back to my MIL's yard since mine is torn up with construction. Its just peaceful there, and a perfect place to show off the colors in this quilt. Valori Well's Bird Paisley print has been so popular with baby items. It can be boy, girl, or gender neutral. Sewing Rm Construction Day 1

I can't believe we are finally starting! In the picture above, you can see my master bedroom balcony that will soon be my sewing rm. Downstairs, the future excercize rm will meet up with the garage wall (next to gate) & my sewing rm upstairs will be 3 ft short of that due to city restrictions on setbacks! To make up for that, the room will stick out 3 ft going the other way (towards us in the pic) for a finished size of 14' deep by 19' wide~ woo hoo!! My current sewing rm is 10x10, and is actually only used for storing fabric and supplies. I am currently in our dining rm and we can't have anyone over for dinner because I have too much stuff to just move it for a few hours. I hope to move into my new sewing rm by the end of the year!

New Patchwork Bible Cover

You will just have to excuse me whilst I cover everything with Queen Street! I ordered a slimline Bible because my study Bible is like taking a suitcase everywhere, so this beauty can fit in my purse. Ever the online shopper, I ordered this thinking it was going to have a purple leather cover. It was more like blue with ever so slight purple undertones. My daughter said it looked like a boy's Bible! I got my Queen Street fabrics in the same day and made it look like a girl's Bible, don't you think?? Get to take it for a trial run this morning! Have a blessed Sunday!

Queen Street Baby Blanket

This size blanket falls under the 'instant gratification' category. Couldn't wait to sew this up and see how it all looked together. I used 8" squares in a 4x4 pattern with medium pink minky on the back. Will be listing it in the shop tonight. Other pics on my flickr. :)

Jennifer Paganelli's fabrics never disappoint me! I got Queen Street in the mail today from http://hawthornethreads.com and did my usual~ what do they go with?? Everything!! Lots of my Casey Scroll coordinates as well as all her other lines. My favorite print is Dolin which is the upper left in each picture. Its an amazing vintage looking print. Then there's the dots~ Siobhan~ a modern touch. I can always use more dots!! Then the romantic damask~ Ellen, groovy Madeline. She covers all the bases. I am already cutting some out!!!!
