Rosetta Ruffle Bag

I have been wanting to make a Rosetta Ruffle Bag from Sis Boom for a long time, and finally got the push to do it my customer/friend, Mary wanted a purse, so I suggested this pattern. She picked out Wallpaper from Josephine Kimberling's Glam Garden line and Oliver+S Park Ramble and I used the dot from the same Oliver+S City Weekends line for the inside. I did one side with pockets that are triple divided and were shown in the pattern and the other is a 5X8 single pocket for the other side. As usual, the Carla Crim/Jennifer Paganelli pattern is perfect! I enjoy sewing and seeing a photo of every step. The results are always so finished and professional looking. I'm working on one for me in turquoise and red. Hope to finish it before my vacation!

Hobo Bag for Robin

Just finished a hobo bag for my sweet friend, Robin. I used a pdf pattern from Sweet Pea Totes. I purchased it from http://pinkchalkfabrics.com. (You can also get it directly from http://www.etsy.com/shop/sweetpeatotes ) Kathy has a great selection of patterns that I love browsing. I've made her mail bag before and loved it. What I love about pdfs is you can have it up on your computer and follow along with pictures. So great for people like me who love to have a visual! I posted more pics on my flickr & you can see Tina Givens' Opal Owl on the back~ a beautiful surprise & compliment to the Glam Garden, Bubble Burst & Henna Garden all picked out by Robin.

Fall Wardrobe

One of my favorite quick & easy projects is appliqueing fabric to tshirts. My mom uniform consists of jeans & a tee or sweats and a tee, so I enjoy adding beautiful prints to the shirts. Paired with a coordinating cardigan or zip sweatshirt and I'm good to go! Fabric lines I used from top left: Nest by Valori Wells, Glam Garden by Josephine Kimberling, Innocent Crush by Anna Maria Horner, Bliss by Bonnie & Camille and Bell Bottoms by Jennifer Paganelli. Its all raw edge applique & I use thread to attach in the same color as the tee with a zigzag around the edge. The Bliss & Bell Bottoms I used pinking shears & then just straight stitched just inside the design so the edges fray a little. Which one will I wear today??

Sew & Tell Challenge Finished!

Finished the Teardrop Bag from Amy Butler's Style Stitches book for the Sew & Tell Challenge. I thought the pattern was a bit challenging as nothing seemed to fit nicely. I gave up on her way of sewing the strap & reverted to what I always do for straps. She had you leave an opening on the side & use a safety pin attached to the end & pull it through the hole. It wouldn't! I threw out the strap & sewed it on the 2 long sides leaving the 2 ends open, then pulled one end through the other. Perfect! :) I used Josephine Kimberling's Glam Garden for the main bag exterior fabric, Amy B's Coriander for the top edges & 'hips'. The stripe is a Robert Kaufman, inside Pie Basket from Denyse Schmidt, inside pocket Jennifer Paganelli's Kate's Wish in fuschia. I always have to mix up the designers fabrics for the best combo! One down~ 20 something to go in the book! :)

Sew and Tell Challenge

I decided to participate in Amylouwho's Sew and Tell Challenge using Amy Butler fabrics and/or patterns. I recently bought Amy B's new book Style Stitches that has some really cute bags. I decided to try out the Teardrop bag using fabrics from Amy (of course!)~ cutting into my pink coriander stash!! Also, the main fabric is from Josephine Kimberling's Glam Garden, the inside will be Pie Basket from Hope Valley, Jennifer Paganelli's Kate's Wish for inside pocket & I think the stripe is RJR?? The book rates this bag as intermediate, so I thought it would be a good one to try to stretch out my sewing skills. Patchwork Crib Skirt

I am starting a crib set for Jess with a patchwork crib bumper. This is the start of the skirt. She wanted a patchwork skirt as well. I'm using various Valori Wells, Jennifer Paganelli, Josephine Kimberling, Amy Butler, Michael M & Dena fabrics (not all pictured). This is the pattern I will use: 16" square, (2) 8" squares & an 8X16 rectangle. Sorry for the picture quality! I can't get my flash to work when I want it to! :) Can't wait to see how this turns out.

My Bday Present

I haven't made myself a patchwork purse in such a long time! I squeezed in this orange, pink & aqua combo that I am just in love with! I got the Dena fabric from Jamie http://outofprint.etsy.com & just got in the Nest fabric from Valori Wells through quilthome.com~ link to the right. Her birds are just gorgeous. I've had Glam Garden from Josphine Kimberling that I bought at http://hawthornethreads.com & of course Jennifer Paganelli's Amanda Fleur & Kat Stripe in orange that just glows! I added a little Amy Butler & Sandi Henderson. I'm going to post this fabric combination in my shop since I love it so much, I figure some one else might, too! Glam Garden is here!

I was shopping a month ago on http://hawthornethreads.com and saw this fabric line called Glam Garden by Josephine Kimberling. I fell in love with it & signed up for notification of when its in, and here it is. It is even more gorgeous in person. My favorite is Wallpaper in the first pic upper left. Her blog is gorgeous too with lots of ideas & she gives the Simplicity pattern numbers for the patterns she used. Such fun! I just uploaded TONS of new fabric choices on flickr, so check them out!
