Cameo

I got Amy Butler's new Cameo line in yesterday and it was fun to play with! I love how it works so well with some of her cherished older lines, like Belle. I'm glad I still have a little bit left of a few of those prints. I have been looking at that olive green in Belle and wondering what I want to combine it with and then here is Cameo! It has that great olivey green, chartreuse & pretty blues that Amy is known for. The red looks great with the Wallflower red as well as the newer Souvenir in the last photo. Harriet's kitchen (the large one in the last photo) was especially fun to pull coordinates. I love busy prints with lots of color and finding just the right combo to bring out their beauty. Which prints are you planning on getting?

New Fabric: Cori Dantini

I have frequently visited Cori Dantini's etsy shop with her beautiful collage like prints and have often admired them. I just found out she came out with a fabric line by Blend Fabrics called 'Beauty is You' which includes panels from her artwork, so now I can make wallhangings for my house.:) The large scale panel is called Girls in Bloom and the smaller ones are part of yardage that can be cut up like I did or keep it as is and would make a great whole cloth quilt. It's called A Girl For Every Season. I found them at this shop, but it looks like the smaller print is already sold out! They are also available here although many of the prints are already sold out! I think they came in earlier this week! Can't wait to play with them!

My Stash, Updated

I got an email from Amy Butler the other day, well, her newsletter email, not from her personally! She's having a show me your stash contest and so I thought I have a nicely organized stash, so I'll enter. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to see other people's fabric stashes. When I originally posted my Wall of Wow fabric stash on flickr, I had lots of response! Currently have 1,730 views, 33 comments and 60 favorites. We love to see what others have! I get lots of comments like it looks like a store or I need to show my husband because he thinks I have too much fabric~ I'm glad to enable more fabric buying! :) To be honest, my husband breaks out in a cold sweat when he starts looking at what I have and asks, "How many thousands of dollars do we have invested in fabric?" and I really try to change the subject! Honestly, I do have more than I  need and I've tried to destash, but that just takes time to do that I currently don't have, so I try to list a yard here and there in my destash shop. I have more to list eventually . . . Anyway, go to the flickr group with your photo and post it and you could win Gypsy Caravan, patterns, books from Amy Butler. (I hope I get extra points for my stash amount, but it is a random selection!) It's fun seeing how others organize their fabric and it is supposed to be a picture of you, too!:)

Lark is Here!!

Got my Lark by Amy Butler yesterday and despite my lack of energy, I was able to make a huge mess in my sewing room coming up with new combinations. Somehow all this vibrant fabric infused some energy and I was able to have a productive evening. Who knew new fabric was just what I needed?? More combinations can be found on my flickr . I pre ordered my Lark at Quilthome, it should be arriving everywhere else soon!

Modern Chevron

Eclectic Chevron

Cottage Chevron

I love Paula Prass' new line, Botanika! The chevron in particular is such a great print with lots of colors and the pattern isn't 'perfect' in the lines. I couldn't decide which way to go style wise, so I decided to create 3 looks with the chevron. The first one is a more modern look with fallish colors. There's a small amount of olive green and I loved the Anna Correopsis print with it, so I coordinated from there. I tried to stick to the deep, warm colors with the exception of a white background from Kristian Howell & Valori Wells and the light blue from Valori Wells. I think all dark would be too heavy. I like a balance.

The second group is more eclectic. I was matching color rather than print style. I was originally thinking about pulling in all the colors from the chevron and it looked too disjointed so I settled on the black-petal pink-periwinkle colors.

The third is more cottage looking. I kept it from looking too sweet and predictable by adding Amy Butler's Floating Buds and the more graphic Joel Dewberry bird print and floral. Jennifer Paganelli's paisley is a perfect match and balances well with the other two periwinkle~purples from Paula. I don't know that I have a favorite, but usually the more fabrics I can get into a group the more I love it. Sometimes I start pulling things together only to hit a roadblock because of the color or style. This was fun! :)

Got Soul Blossoms?

I ordered my Soul Blossoms from http://hawthornethreads.com & had fun playing with the combos. Some new Jennifer Paganelli & Patty Young goes nicely with them. There are just so many prints, that I didn't order all, but still felt like I got a TON! My favorite is the Peony, so I posted those combos. Other combos are on my flickr site. New Amy Butler Fabric Combos

I just got the new Love fabric from Amy Butler a few days ago and had so much fun seeing what other fabrics I already had that would match. The first picture is a beautiful fabric called Momento with a dark plum background. It looked great with Anna Maria Horner's Dance Floor & Patty Young's Gothic Arch. #4 is called Sunspots and is similar to her older Full Moon Dots, but more playful. In the pic on the right, I love the Periwinkle Paradise (large middle floral) paired with Momento again in midnight above and Cypress Paisley below. It looks great with Jennifer Paganelli's Kat Stripe in blue and Sally in Orange as well as Anna Maria Horner's Mingling Rose in ice- and there's those Sunspots in tangerine. It's so fun to add a new fabric line to the mix. I was glued to Twitter over the weekend looking at all the quilt market tweets and pics. New fabrics that are amazing from Heather Bailey, Paula Prass, Anna Maria Horner and more!

Blankets Galore

I am really enjoying making patchwork and minky blankets. It is really so rewarding and each one is different. My husband and I trekked out to downtown LA to buy a ton of minky. It is really hard to see what color it is online. There are no good sources locally, so everything is online- which is fine with me! I have such creative customers- always willing to work things out, be kind to what stash I have. Each blanket is a labor of love- truly!! My son told me the other day that I was in love with fabric. Kids are so intuitive sometimes. I was commenting on his boy favorites and saying "How could you love playing airsoft?"- I don't get the whole gun thing. He said that was better than loving fabric- ha! Fabric won't hurt you! I hope to get lots of blanket orders so I can order more minky and fabric that I love!!

We are getting ready for Easter this weekend and I will be doing dinner for my family. We are looking forward to a nice, warm, family day. It is supposed to be 75 degrees here in CA. PERFECT! Have a blessed Easter!
