Good Company Love

I've been having lots of fun playing with sample yardage from Jennifer Paganelli's upcoming line, Good Company due out in November. I'm crazy for her color combinations and this time around I especially love the periwinkle/pink combo with the shot of yellow. I got out my beloved Casey Scroll fabric and used almost all of it for the exterior of my purse. (I did save some for quilts)

The strap & interior are Jane from Superfly. I used scraps from the random patchwork blanket I made her out of the fabrics. The back pocket was a great place to showcase some of the prints.

Below is the blanket ( I call it a blanket if it's minky backed with no batting in between or quilting).
I am taking preorders if anyone is interested. The fabric line will be out in November!

New Christmas Section in the Shop!

So I decided I'd put some Christmas blankies in my shop this year. I've collected some really cute prints and have always wanted to do this, but put it off until it was too late previous years! They are patchwork on one side, cuddly minky on the other, so they are great snuggling on the couch watching Christmas movies or in the car on the way to Grandma's house! Most are in fun colors, but I made the first one in more traditional ones, although I still think those prints make a lively, fun throw. I used various Moda, Anna Griffin, Riley Blake and Robert Kaufman prints.

I wish I could remember the name of this fabric line, but my chemo brain won't allow that recollection yet! If anyone knows, let me know so I can add it to the listing! I love the soft pinks and minty greens. I combined Jennifer Paganelli, Moda and Michael Miller prints.

This one is from Riley Blake's Alpine Wonderland and it's the girl version with pretty coordinates mostly from Jennifer Paganelli and Sandi Henderson.

This is the boy's version of Alpine Wonderland

And lastly, a gingerbread house print from Michael Miller with coordinates from Jennifer Paganelli, Tanya Whelan and Lizzy House. I love how Lucky Girl prints are right at home with the Christmas theme. Get them in the shop while you can!

Girl's World Cover Blanket

I was asked by a customer of mine if I could make the quilt that's on the cover of Girl's World by Jennifer Paganelli. She said she knew I would know which one it was because she saw it on my blog. :) I told her it would be 'easy' to make because the print is a cheater print called Kimberly with the patchwork printed on. The finished size is 70x84 to fit a twin bed. Its pictured on a queen bed. You can see the ball fringe on the far side because it technically doesn't fit this size. We don't have any twin size beds anymore as my son is now about 6' and doesn't fit in one anymore. The backing is Kona cotton azalea and the ball fringe goes all the way around. I recommend a ball fringe with a wide strip that you attach to your item to. I've ordered ball fringe that has a minuscule edge and its a nightmare to sew on. This was a dream! I would call this a coverlet because there is no batting in the middle. I seamed 2 sides down the middle and sewed right sides together, turned right side out & ironed. I topstitched around the edge with white thread in the top, fuschia in the bottom and then attached the fringe switching out the top thread to match the fringe and viola! We're living in a Girl's World!!

Guitar Blanket for the boys!

I love this Jam Session print from Michael Miller! I'm always on the search for cute boy fabric, and this is definitely a favorite. I thought it would be fun to take some photos with Dylan since he plays guitar. The pictures came out really fun. Hope this blanket goes to a music loving home. :)

I Love Custom Orders!

Sophie asked me a few months ago if I could make a baby blanket for her using this Chiang Mai print from Shumacher. We went back and forth choosing colors to accent but not compete with the print. I went to my local quilt shop & got some coral blenders then added some from my stash from Amy Butler, Sandi Henderson, Kate Spain, Tina Givens & Valori Wells. The chocolate brown border is from Robert Kaufman. Cream minky is on the back side. The dragon print is dry clean only, so Sophie will have to be careful with it~ but what a stunner!! Love how it came out.

A Bright Spot on a Grey Day

I got to finally work with Soul Blossoms! I really like that fabric line, but find that I enjoy using one of those prints to pull prints from other lines. Each fabric is a work of art and looks good supported. I made a single fabric blanket using the Pillow & Maxfield Pretty Bird fabric & saw how great it looked with Disco Flower. P&M's new Gypsy Bandana has great saturated colors~ love the reddish fuschia print with this. Kaffe goes with everyone, and Paperweight is one of my favs~ need it in every color! Jennifer Paganelli prints are in almost everything I do, the Queen of Color herself!! BTW, go to her blog to preview Honey Child~ amazing color combos~ can't wait! I was worried about the pics because its sooooooo grey here. I'm already ready for spring, I guess thats why I picked the bright colors!

My Purple Phase

Well, it all started with Anna Maria Horner's Small Gathering in plum, then Far Far Away (which I haven't cut into yet), then Glam Garden and then Sonoma by Franchelle Contreras. Ahhhh, I have always loved violet, lavender, plum etc. When my husband and I first married I decorated our room in violet and forest green. The duvet was from Pottery Barn and looked so much like the purple print on the bottom of the blanket with the roses~ complete with matching shams. I eventually changed that to Laura Ashley's Toile print in dark purple with a cream background. I made a whole cloth quilt with it, shams, etc. Then I changed over to red, wheat & olive, but am now missing my purple! I decided to make a baby size blanket from the leftover blocks from Nicole's blanket (on flickr) and found all sorts of pretty nooks in my yard despite the dirt piles, broken concrete, rebar, etc. floating around the back yard. I'm pretty sure the workers thought I was strange clothespinning this blanket to my apricot tree & sitting on a mound of tarped dirt to get this shot! Oh, what we do to capture the perfect picture! Have you ever gone to great lengths to photograph something???

Is it Summer Yet?

I know, spring isn't even here yet, and I'm thinking summer. I just couldn't help but think of my pool water sewing up this blanket. The Bliss Bouquet from Amy Butler looks like a vintage beach print~ can't you just see it in a wrap for your bathing suit? A beach towel trimmed with Jennifer Paganelli's Mary Trellis & Sandi Henderson's Happy Butterfly on a cozy pillow backed with white terrycloth. Oh, can't wait! Not that I spend my summer around the pool, but I can see it from where I sew. :) A girl can daydream!

Thanks for visiting!
