Lucky Girl!!!

I was so excited when Jennifer sent me Lucky Girl, her upcoming fabric line that is due out in September. It has a very vintage feel with some gorgeous contrast with navy blue to set of the pinks, light blues and teal greens.

I tried to use a different pattern, but in the end I still love the random patchwork where the fabric can be the star. I did longer pieces this time, cut at 6.5x12.5 in order to get the full visual of some of the prints. I loved making the inital pillow. I did 'P' for Paganelli since I was sending it to Jennifer, but I need to make one for myself now!

Update on my health: I ended up having a double mastectomy to just be rid of everything once and for all and so now I don't feel like I'm wondering what will show up next on my mammogram. I had found a pre cancerous growth in the 'other' side, so now I have a peace of mind about it all. I hope to be 100% back by the end of the year. I still keep my shop open taking custom orders as I see I can fit. It's great therapy! The Lord has blessed me with such wonderful customers! I just celebrated 5 years on Etsy earlier this month. Hope to blog more, if not, follow me on instagram under sewfunbymonique.

T Shirt Ruffle Pillow

Another pillow made for Holly's room. This one we made out of a kids XL long sleeve tee. I've been so inspired on pinterest with all the diy ruffle tutorials posted, that we did one using a tutorial from this blog. It is the softest pillow and perfect for her new dish reading chair. :)

Room with A View

Since moving my sewing room into the dining room, I have consciously tried to pretty up what I see out that window. I have 5 roses in the foreground right outside the window that I didn't keep up with the anti-rust treatment & have already had to cut them back. :( The trumpet vines are really flourishing & I love looking at them. Every time I do I think, 'You know, Amy Butler's Trumpet Flower in pink is the exact shade of my trumpet flowers! I need to make a pillow to put on that bench to match'. This conversation has continued with myself for several months now, and I'm happy to say I jumped in and made it out of the laminated cotton. Now, I just need to paint the bench, get new flowers for the pot. At least I can check the pillow off my list! :) Here is a link to the Sew & Tell Friday: http://www.amylouwho.com/

Been Busy

I've been wanting to do a new blog post, but need to finish this order up so here is a pic of more of the custom bedding I've been doing. There is a sea of blue & green in every room ~ practically~ downstairs!! I love this initial pillow. Its for an 18" pillow. What have you been sewing?

A Quick Visit

I made a quick visit to my brothers house with Holly and enjoyed my time there so much. I also got to visit my 92 yr old grandma, Busia as we call her in Polish, who asked if I could bring her chicken nuggets and fries from McDonalds. She is hilarious. There was a time she held the record for most Big Macs eaten. The story is told for future generations to admire! :) Right now she was content with chicken nuggets!!! While I was staying at my brother and my sweet sis in law's house I made curtains and a pillow for my niece's room to match the throw I had made her for her bday. I tell you I am in the right business because I was super excited to sew on my visit. My sis in law does sew, and shes really good at it, but its not a priority for her. I was glad to help her out! I used Amanda Fleur in aqua and Flower Mural in brown for the curtains. The pillow is also the Flower Mural. Sheri made the runner on the nightstand with the Flower Mural and a small strip of Marie in aqua in the middle. All fabrics by Jennifer Paganelli. I am sad that I only got a pic of Holly with 1 beautiful cousin as she has 2 more who were in the other room! I guess as usual I got overexcited to take the pic and forgot!
:(((((((

Thanks for visiting!
