Amy Butler Quilt Quest

I had so much fun sewing this custom order for Katie! I used almost all of Amy Butler's fabric lines~ Belle, Lotus, Daisy Chain, Nigella, August Fields & Love is on the back. She said she wanted lots of clashing colors, not at all matching. As we worked together to come up with the fabrics, she put together a patchwork word doc that had all of these fabrics. Then I had to hunt them down. Let me tell you that the Coriander was hard to find! I was only able to buy 11" on ebay at a premium price for the sea green color. It is spectacular! I wish I had more. I found 2 yards of the pine Coriander on ebay as well. It was more than the regular price, but not as expensive as the sea green. I really enjoyed the quest! Have you ever paid more for fabric you just had to have??

Crib Bedding

Its that time of year when I get more requests for crib bedding. Its really fun to make and coordinate with different fabrics. This bumper is for Jessie. She picked out Tula Pink's Plume fabric line and this fabric is called Tailfeathers in mint. I purchased it at hawthorne threads, but Jona at Fabritopia also carries this line. The piping is Amy Butler's Park Fountains which will also be the crib skirt. I have decided not to sew any more fitted crib sheets as the width of the fabric can vary by an inch which sometimes makes the sheet too small. :( I have 2 more crib bedding orders to finish before June & I'm really excited about them. One is using the cute Alice Kennedy Owl fabric with Sandi Henderson's Farmers Market. The other is patchwork with Anna Maria Horner fabrics in blues & oranges based on her Sketchbook fabric in blue. Lots to sew, got to go! :)

Scripture Aprons

Really enjoyed making this for my sister in law's bday. I found the cooking scripture~ it comes in a panel & you cut it out from http://shabbyfabrics.com. Used Amy Butler's pattern from her book, In Stitches. I learned lots of new things. All the seams are enclosed so when you wash it, it won't fray. It really has a professional looking finish to it. I also embellished a dish towel with the stripe fabric. The blue damask is from Dena's Leannika fabric line and the rest is Nicey Jane from Heather Bailey. Sheri just changed her kitchen recently to aqua and so I'm going with that color for her. Hope she likes it!

A Craft to Do With Tweens for the Break

We have some time on our hands this week for our Easter break, and I have a truckload of fabric, :) so my daughter & her friend wanted to make these cute lovebirds found on this site, http://mollychicken.blogs.com/ & scroll way down. They had a great time making them all themselves!

Glam Garden is here!

I was shopping a month ago on http://hawthornethreads.com and saw this fabric line called Glam Garden by Josephine Kimberling. I fell in love with it & signed up for notification of when its in, and here it is. It is even more gorgeous in person. My favorite is Wallpaper in the first pic upper left. Her blog is gorgeous too with lots of ideas & she gives the Simplicity pattern numbers for the patterns she used. Such fun! I just uploaded TONS of new fabric choices on flickr, so check them out! Here's Josephine's pretty site with a link on this page to her blog: http://www.josephinekimberling.com/
