Patchwork Diaper Bag

I had the pleasure of sewing a patchwork diaper bag for Nakia recently. Its one of my favorite things to sew~ well anything patchwork is! :) I used 5" squares and just trimmed down as necessary to create this aqua, lime and teal bag from fabrics by Amy Butler, Jennifer Paganelli, Patty Young & Michael Miller. She ordered a changing pad in Patty Young's Hummingbird and wanted an aqua/green bag so I added that print to the mix and any others that coordinated. Jennifer's Ann Flower Mural was added towards the end because as I walked by my fabric wall I noticed it would be gorgeous in the mix. I enjoy impromptu fabric mixes. You never know what coordinates sometimes until you are sewing along and you see one more who wants in on the fun! Tomorrow is the last day of school for my kids, so I've got lots to do today. Hope you are enjoying your day!

Twin Quilt Finished!

I always feel so good after finishing a quilt! Erica asked me to make a twin size quilt for her daughter using the colors in this quilt http://www.flickr.com/photos/sewfunbymonique/4458714106/in/set-72157623112818493/
but adding orange. I used Jenean Morrison's Mingle in beetroot (center square) to bridge the colors. I grabbed some of my Joel Dewberry's Woodgrain in orange, Valori Wells butterflies in orange (for the binding, too), Tanya Whelan's Marilyn from Dolce, Amy Butler's Floating Buds & Robert Kaufman's Crazy for Dots which also has all the colors including the burgundy. The rest is mostly Flora and Fauna and Mezzanine from Patty Young, but I also included Jennifer Paganelli (of course!) Matt's Tux, Pop Garden from Heather Bailey & Anna Maria's Filigree in green. My favorite combinations are mixing up the best from each designer! Hope Erica loves it! Linking up with quiltstory: http://www.quiltstory.blogspot.com/

Molly's Baby Quilt

This was a fun team effort by Molly & me. She contacted me to make a 40X46 random patch baby quilt using mostly Flights of Fancy fabrics. She scoured the internet finding fabrics that are hard to find~ like the Garden Trellis in green. Main fabrics also included Dandelion from Patty Young's Flora and Fauna line. I added a few fabrics that I had on hand and voila, this beauty was born! Hope her baby enjoys it for years to come!

Mermaid Quilt

I get so many fun opportunities doing custom work! I have worked with Amy several times before and she asked if I could cut up her daughter's mermaid duvet and make it into a quilt. She said finding coordinates wouldn't be a problem~ and she was right! I had so much fun pulling out my stash (as well as adding to it!) to make this twin size quilt. Practically every designer is featured here~ Jennifer Paganelli, Patty Young, Tanya Whelan, Amy Butler, Michael Miller, Robert Kaufman & Heather Ross. The back is Ta Dot in lime and the binding is from Lots of Dots & Stripes from Robert Kaufman. I chose to quilt 1/4" in for each square and then on each mermaid block, I chose a different part to quilt & highlight. Sometimes I outlined the whole mermaid & sometimes it was her hair or flower or a starfish. I loved that the Heather Ross Seahorses matched the theme & colors!

Picture Perfect

I love all the green I'm seeing in the spring! Had my son hold up my newly finished 50X70 quilt using mostly Patty Young fabrics. It was a tad windy, but looked great! More photos on my flickr site with matching valance.
