Lucy Halter top

I got around to finally playing with the Lucy Halter pattern by Jennifer Paganelli & Carla Crim. You can make a halter top to what ever length you want or a dress in any length from above the knee to the floor. I love the versatility of choices.  As usual, love love love the pattern! Downloadable is the way to go & pictures of every single step is the only way I can feel confident in what I'm sewing. I am a quilter first, clothing is about 20th down on the list of things I sew. This pattern is quilter friendly and uses a 1/4" seam for everything, so I feel right at home! I can't recommend these patterns enough!  You can buy their patterns here or here. I chose an all time favorite Elizabeth Rose in ice for the top & Crazy Love's Cecilia in fuchsia for the bottom. Hope to get some color soon so I look better in it. Until then, I will look forward to warm Southern California days!

The Best of Sis Boom Bedding

I was thrilled when I was asked to create this set as it has all of my favorite Jennifer P fabrics in it that span a wide range of her fabric lines! I am A L M O S T  O U T of the Elizabeth Rose fabric, my fav fav! I am actually working on making a Lucy Halter top with it as I realize when it's gone, it's gone and I want to wear it. I will review that when it's done. I hope Tiffany enjoys her set!

Newest Crazy Love Creation

Truth be told, I could find new fabric combinations all day and never be bored! My first Crazy Love project used every fabric from the line and now I'm going through my large Sis Boom stash to mix and match new and old favorites. I adore this color palette of brown, periwinkle & pink. I put pink minky on the back and you can see how it glows in both the sun and shade. Next up, orange, red & aqua!

I was given an exciting opportunity recently to take a crib skirt from a previously made (not by me) crib set and make it into a quilt. Amanda contacted me because she had seen my work on Jennifer Paganelli's blog (thank you, Jennifer!) and thought I might be interested in taking on this project. I said, 'yes, yes, yes!!!!' couldn't wait! The print from the skirt is Nicole in blue from a discontinued line called Mod Girls. There was also a fitted sheet in the Eliza Stripe that she wanted to incorporate, but since I had some that was brand new, we decided to use my stash for that.  I pulled from my extensive JP stash to get all the colors from the main print including Bell Bottoms, Flower Power, Pretty Please, So St Croix, Poodle,  Queen Street, and West Indies. The backing is Marie from West Indies and the binding & sham ruffle is the Eliza Stripe. I free motion quilted in Aurifil thread using a variegated fuchsia thread in a scroll pattern. I hope Amanda and her daughter enjoy it as  much as I enjoyed making it for them! 

My New Desk Area Finished!

Well, I am slowly starting to move into my new sewing room. There is so much to put up, attach & move that it will be a slowish process. I thought I'd post as an area is finished. My first priority was getting my desk area finished so I can use my computer asap. I painted an antique chair I had white as well as the desk. The desk was Tom's grandmas & it already had 3 layers of paint on it. It looked like the original was aqua~ which I would have loved! I used fabrics from Jennifer's new Honey Child line for the chair skirt. Dana in green for the seat (from Jennifer's fqs she sent me), skirt in Danielle in green that I ordered from http://sewmamasew.com. The piping & ties are from Queen Street & are a great coordinate. For the desk top, I used iron on vinyl that comes in 17" width & I use it for the back of changing pads. I ironed it to Elizabeth Rose ice from Flower Power & pinked the edges for cuteness. It makes a great mouse pad as its smooth & adds color to the all white desk. Lots more to show you coming up!

Crib Set Request

I had an unusal request for this crib bedding~ use the colors & style of my logo (you can see it in my blog title)! Samantha also wanted me to choose all the fabrics, but include 2 strips of the same fabric on all items to tie them together. I still have the quilt to make which will include more fabrics, but I don't have to get that finished for another month. I can tell you I had SO MUCH FUN picking everything out and sewing it up! A snippet of Elizabeth Rose in ice (main fabric on skirt) is in my logo, (with Jennifer Paganelli's permission!) so I based everything around those colors.

Twin Quilt Finished!

I always feel so good after finishing a quilt! Erica asked me to make a twin size quilt for her daughter using the colors in this quilt http://www.flickr.com/photos/sewfunbymonique/4458714106/in/set-72157623112818493/

but adding orange. I used Jenean Morrison's Mingle in beetroot (center square) to bridge the colors. I grabbed some of my Joel Dewberry's Woodgrain in orange, Valori Wells butterflies in orange (for the binding, too), Tanya Whelan's Marilyn from Dolce, Amy Butler's Floating Buds & Robert Kaufman's Crazy for Dots which also has all the colors including the burgundy. The rest is mostly Flora and Fauna and Mezzanine from Patty Young, but I also included Jennifer Paganelli (of course!) Matt's Tux, Pop Garden from Heather Bailey & Anna Maria's Filigree in green. Patchwork Bag

I am just in love with this color combination! Liz originally wanted a minky blanket with these fabrics, which I previously finished: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sewfunbymonique/5132977045/ but then decided to add a patchwork bag and here it is! Normally I just use interfacing on all the pieces, but this time I added batting and quilted the pieces. It was definately thicker and more difficult to go through the layers when putting it all together. I used my walking foot and pressed on! More pics on my flickr page. Custom Bedding for Mary

Mary asked me to make her a queen coverlet and matching shams using mostly Jennifer Paganelli fabrics~ her favorites being Loopy Vintage Floral, Tanya & Siobhan. We ended up with the ruffle on the sides later and I think it makes the set look sweeter! Its got patchwork on one side, Loopy Vintage on the other, no batting in between. It was a pleasure working with some of my favorite fabrics! Hope she loves it!

Saturday Night Finish

Hey! Wouldn't it be great if I could finish one order a day?? I'm on a roll, watch out! :) I just finished this set and hate to ship it out because I love it so much!!! Jennifer Paganelli, Anna Maria Horner, Joel Dewberry & Amy Butler~ how can you go wrong? This is one of my patchwork & minky blankets that have no batting in between & are topstitched around the edge twice. The sham has a quilted front, ruffle & envelope back. Its getting mailed out on Monday. I love creating these random patch lovlies! The fabrics are a work of art themselves!

Patchwork Crib Skirt

I am starting a crib set for Jess with a patchwork crib bumper. This is the start of the skirt. She wanted a patchwork skirt as well. I'm using various Valori Wells, Jennifer Paganelli, Josephine Kimberling, Amy Butler, Michael M & Dena fabrics (not all pictured). This is the pattern I will use: 16" square, (2) 8" squares & an 8X16 rectangle. Sorry for the picture quality! I can't get my flash to work when I want it to! :) Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Twin Size Quilt

Really thrilled to have finished this quilt today!! I used 7" squares from Jennifer Paganelli, Tanya Whelan & Michael Miller. The back is Ava Rose in the light pink. Binding is Loopy Vintage turquoise from Jennifer. I did diagonal quilting which ends up looking like large diamonds~ really pretty. I'm off to finish the last panel for the poster bed & dust ruffle.

Canopy Bed Panels

These are part of a custom order bedding set~ 3 of 4 panels that are 2 sided & will tie to a canopy/4 poster bed. The top & bottom are from Jennifer Paganelli's Flower Power fabric lines~ one of my all time favorites~in Elizabeth Rose ice & Loopy Vintage turquoise. The middle panel is Dandy Damask from Michael Miller. The bedskirt will be Elizabeth Rose ice. I have the quilt all pieced & layered and I will be quilting it today with light pink satiny thread to coordinate, will post pics when I'm done. I have always wanted fabric panels when I had a 4 poster bed, but never made them. I wish I still had that bed to try it out! :)

Flower Power Weekend

I spent the weekend making many things from Jennifer Paganelli's Flower Power fabrics. Those colors are so amazing to work with. Even my husband liked the colors! I made a random patchwork purse, baby blanket, doll blanket and onesie. I am going to make one for myself with all the scraps. The random patchwork is my favorite to sew. I decide on the overall dimensions and then just start piecing to create the width and length I need. It is a great way to use scraps. Usually I have a focus fabric that has all the colors I want to use and then build from there. No 2 purses come out the same. I really enjoy quilting it. It is a manageable size, unlike my queen duvet I recently finished. I have posted pictures on my flickr site. A link to it is on the sidebar. I listed a red & pink random patchwork in my store on friday because I sold the pink and brown one earlier this week.
