Holly's Blanket

My daughter finally got her own minky blanket! We have gone back and forth ever since I started making them a year and a half ago about which fabrics. She really likes this quilt she's had from Target, but wanted an aqua room. After going around and around she decided to stay with her current colors, but we found that the colors in the quilt were difficult to match. The pink is a purpley pink or berryish. She's an exact match kind of girl, so we had to audition fabrics exhaustively! We finally settled on this beautiful combination from Tanya Whelan and Jennifer Paganelli. I think it really brightens her room & adds something special. She has a queen size bed, so she chose the 40x56 as a throw size to coordinate. Cute little plush from etsy's Talkproof and Fuzzymuffins on the bed.

New Look!

I am so excited that I finally got a new design for my shop & blog. I used Renee of http://www.etsy.com/shop/Thompsondesigns. She was so easy to work with & really listened to what I wanted. She included snippets of 2 of my fav Jennifer Paganelli fabrics, Elizabeth Rose and Loopy Vintage Floral. I asked Jennifer if that was okay & she said 'absolutely!' Pictured is Robin's order with my new business card attached. The card looks great with it, don't you think??

Waiting on the Grapes

We had a great crop (2 trees!) of apricots, now we are waiting on our Red Flame grapes. They grow over the pergola in our backyard intertwined with the Trumpet vine. They both provide much needed shade in the summer. Of course, they seem to all ripen at once and we are handing out grapes to all who visit. Anybody have any great recipes with grapes?? I saw an italian bread made with them from Nella Cucina's Mary Ann Esposito. Maybe I'll give it a try this year!

Art Journal Crib Bumper

So thrilled to have finished this patchwork crib bumper using a combination of Bari J's Art Journal fabrics and Joel Dewberry's Modern Meadow and Ginseng fabrics. I used Nufoam bumper inserts instead of stuffing. I love how it looks tailored & thin. Heidi is doing a bird themed nursery and has picked out some amazing accessories. I still need to finish the crib skirt and sheets, so I'd better get sewing!

Underneath the Apricot Tree

My daughter found this adorable koala plush named Cola at http://fuzzymuffins.etsy.com. She was looking for a plush on etsy to buy for getting good report cards and was having trouble finding the perfect one. Then she remembered a shop that she had seen before and went back on to check out the shop. She finally decided to buy Cola the koala. She recently got her in the mail and hasn"t stopped loving her. Check out the shop as listed above and be ready to find beyond cute plush!

My Boy is 15!

I can't believe that 15 years ago today my boy Dylan was born! He was a month early~ I was due August 6. I woke up at midnight & my water broke. The doctor tried to stop him from being born, but finally at 10:30pm via c~section because he was breech, Dylan Thomas was born. He was 6lbs 11oz~ pretty big for a preemie. He had trouble breathing, so he was in the NICU for 10 long days. He had lots of colic when he was a newborn, he loved to have tantrums as a toddler and was glued to me for many years. Now, he is such a pleasant to be around, wonderful young man. I am so grateful that God gave him to me. My special boy. This pic was taken today. We spent the day together since sister is gone on vacation with a friend and Dad was working. It was an enjoyable day looking at airsoft guns (well, not so much fun for me! ) & going to thrift stores for costumes for his movies. I love this guy!!!!

My Bday Present

I haven't made myself a patchwork purse in such a long time! I squeezed in this orange, pink & aqua combo that I am just in love with! I got the Dena fabric from Jamie http://outofprint.etsy.com & just got in the Nest fabric from Valori Wells through quilthome.com~ link to the right. Her birds are just gorgeous. I've had Glam Garden from Josphine Kimberling that I bought at http://hawthornethreads.com & of course Jennifer Paganelli's Amanda Fleur & Kat Stripe in orange that just glows! I added a little Amy Butler & Sandi Henderson. I'm going to post this fabric combination in my shop since I love it so much, I figure some one else might, too! Hope you are having a great 4th of July weekend!
