West Indies Gum Drop Pillow

I love all those 'poufs' that I see popping up everywhere, so I decided to try Amy Butler's Gum Drop pillow pattern and make one to match Holly's room. Truth be told, this was cut out months ago and last night we decided to finish! Yay! One to check of my WIP list! The pattern was really pretty easy. The hardest part was ironing open the curved seams, but it doesn't have to be 'perfect'. Holly was helping me make it until she burnt her finger while ironing~ bummer! The pattern piece calls for cutting it out on the fold for each piece, so instead I made a full size pattern from interfacing, so that made the cutting out quicker. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and may make some for my family room. We can always use extra seating. I used the largest size, 24" and it's pretty big! Jennifer Paganelli West Indies fabrics were used~ Chandler & Luca in Brandy were used. You can find them here

Plum Pretty Quilt

I have always loved every shade of purple, but going towards plum is just so lucious to me! I enjoyed every stitch of making this quilt for Jenni. I outlined the patches in a straight stitch and then free motion swirled the plum dot border which is Hoodie's Crosshatch dots in plum. Jenni ordered a whole crib set, so this is part of a bigger picture~ but it's a great start! I can't resist photographing my kids if they will let me with my quilts & I love how Holly looks with the backing of this one! Hope you are enjoying your Saturday!

Ruby Star Shining Tee & Belt

I just finished a large order, its sunny & 72 degrees out, so I made myself a quick appliqued tee and matching belt from Ruby Star Shining by Melody Miller. It is seriously cool fabric! I used the ol' wonder under and then blanket stitched with my machine around the edge. The belt is just selvage to selvage using a 5" strip ironed in half, open up, iron sides into crease, fold back together and then topstitch around all the sides. I'm planning on making a super small~just my cell phone, money, keys, lipstick purse with the typewriters to take to a concert to see Third Day this Thursday. Can't wait!! Hope you are enjoying sunshine where ever you are!

Thrift Store Prom

Sporting the Bosco Bow Ties

Bow Tie & Matching Corsage

My handsome boy

Having fun
Our church came up with a great idea to have a "Thrift Store Prom". Go cheaply using clothes from thrift stores, go vintage, go silly, what ever! I made Dylan & his friend bow ties from Jennifer Paganelli/Carla Crim   Bosco Bow Tie. I did as Melissa P did and hand sewed at the parts where it said to glue. Who knows how crazy on the dance floor they will get! Dylan's girlfriend had a cute poodle skirt and red scarf so I made her a matching corsage from Tanya Whelan's new book, Sew What You Love called 'Corsage Flowers" I attached the flower to a knit leftover from hemming Holly's pants she's wearing. How's that for repurposing?? I put a vintage button at the center. I used American Jane's Happy Campers Plaid. Jordan's bow tie is a Robert Kaufman pimatex black with white dots. I loved making them and hope to make more! They did their best to be goofy and silly and I think they succeeded! Holly wanted to go, but high schoolers only, so she found some retro glasses and joined the photo.

Happy Easter!

"He is not here; he has risen!" Luke 24:6
My sweet friend made this empty tomb for me, and I LOVE it!! Hope you and yours celebrate the empty tomb and Jesus conquering death for all of us so we can be in eternity with Him. Have a wonderful Easter!

Thanks for visiting!
